CommEd to offer ACT workshop March 16

CommUNITY Education is offering an ACT Workshop on Saturday morning, March 16. Most often, this test is taken during a student's junior year in high school as a step toward college applications.

Participants will learn test taking strategies and steps for getting through the test as well as have a group tutor sessions in math, English and science during the workshop, which will run from 9 a.m. to 12 noon at Storm Lake High School.

Registrations will be taken at CommUNITY Education, located at 419 Lake Avenue, Storm Lake. Please call 732-5711 if you have questions. The fee is $20 and registration deadline is March 7.

Love and Logic class to be offered to parents

A four-season class, "Becoming A Love and Logic Parent," will soon be offered by CommUNITY Education. Class dates are March 10, 12, 17, and 18, from 6-8 p.m., at the Storm Lake Middle School. Jaymie Bral and Diane Jones will lead this class. The presentation is patterned after the book, "Parenting with Love and Logic: Teaching Children Responsibility," by Foster Cline and Jim Fay.

A $10 workbook fee (one per couple) is charged, with scholarships available. Child care is provided at each session, with a one time fee of $3 per family.

Parents are encouraged to sign up even if they are unable to make every session. Please stop by the CommUNITY Education Office to register by March 8, or call 732-5711.

Area students named to UI Dean's List

Fourteen area students were named to the Dean's List at the University of Iowa for the 2001 winter semester. All students named to the Dean's List carried at least 12 graded semester hours, and earned a minimum grade point average of 3.50 for inclusion on the Dean's List in the Colleges of Liberal Arts, Nursing, Business Admini-stration and Engineering.

College of Pharmacy students were required to maintain a minimum 3.25 grade point average to be included on the Dean's List.
