K9 search teams find no drugs at SL Middle School

On the afternoon of Monday, Feb. 25, 2002, the Storm Lake Police Department conducted a K9 search of the Storm Lake Middle School for illegal drugs by request of school administration.

Storm Lake School administrators contacted the police department and requested a K9 search be conducted at their facility.

At approximately 2 p.m. on Monday, four K9 teams entered the school facility and searched the facility, the school lockers and the cars in the school's parking lot. The teams utilized drug-sniffing police dogs.

The search, which took approximately 30 minutes, turned up no illegal drugs in the school facility.

The Storm Lake Police K9 Unit was assisted by K9 units from the Early Police Department, Pocahontas County Sheriff's Department and the Humboldt County Sheriff's Department.
