The Storm Lake Police Department was dispatched to an apartment complex located at 523 Russell St. in reference to a report of the odor of marijuana coming from an apartment Monday afternoon.
Police determined that the odor was coming from Apartment 12. Officers made contact with the occupants of the apartment and observed contraband in plain view. Police arrested three occupants of the apartment for Frequenting a Disorderly House.
The three subjects were transported to the Police Station. Upon arresting one of the subjects, it was found that he had a small amount of marijuana on his person. Further police secured the apartment and obtained a search warrant for the premises.
At 7 p.m. Storm Lake Police executed a search warrant at the apartment, and seized a substance believed to be methamphetamine, some drug paraphernalia and a shotgun.
Police charged Justin Howard, 21, of Storm Lake, and Michael Eral, 21, of Fonda, with Frequenting a Disorderly House, (a simple misdemeanor). They were processed and released pending a court date.
Police charged Nicholas Henrich, 22, of Storm Lake, with Possession of Controlled Substance - Marijuana, (a serious misdemeanor), Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, (a simple misdemeanor), and Keeping a Disorderly House, (a simple misdemeanor). Henrich was booked into the Buena Vista County Jail on $2,600 cash bond.
The Storm Lake Police K9 Unit dog assisted officers at the scene.
The investigation is continuing with additional charges expected.
