Updates from the Storm Lake Police Department and the Buena Vista Sheriff's Officve.
On February 12, at 10:30 p.m., an accident occurred in the parking lot of 1407 Lake Avenue. A 1990 Dodge, driven by Samantha Stoeber, 18, Alta, had difficulty turning due to faulty steering pump, and struck a concrete base light pole. Damage was estimated at $1,900 to the Stoeber vehicle and none to the pole.
On February 15, at an unknown time, a hit and run accident occurred in the Buena Vista University main parking lot, 610 West 4th Street. A 1998 Ford, owned by Dennis Billiet, Sioux City, was parked in the parking lot when it was struck by an unknown vehicle, which left the scene. Damage was estimated at $500 to the Billiet vehicle.
On February 20, at 11:35 a.m., an accident occurred in the 100 block of Highway Street. A 1983 Ford pickup and trailer, driven by Steven Pedersen, 44, 1233 Seneca Street, was southbound on Highway Street. A 1993 Ford, driven by Elmer Jones, 70, 134 Highway Street, while backing from the driveway did not see the Pedersen vehicle. Pedersen swerved to miss the Jones vehicle, but the Pedersen trailer was hit by the Jones vehicle as it continued backing. Jones was charged with Improper Backing. Damage was estimated at $1,500 to the Jones vehicle and $400 to the Pedersen trailer.
On February 20, Alfredo Ramos, Jr., 10191/2 Michigan Street, reported fire extinguisher powder was sprayed all over the interior of his vehicle while parked at 1324 Erie Street. Damage was estimated at $300 to the vehicle.
