Freedom quilt founders tell their tale

Monday, February 25, 2002

In November of 2001, Betty Nielsen and Pat Archer, two women from Varina, decided to make quilts for all the families of September 11 victims - more than 4,500 quilts!

By Christmas six weeks later, 1,544 quilts were delivered to New York City, and the goal is to deliver the rest by April 7 - and with the help of more than 962 groups and individuals from all around the country, the Freedom Quilt Project is bound to be a success.

On Wednesday, February 27, at 6:30 p.m. in Anderson Auditorium on the BVU campus, Nielsen and Archer will tell their story of the faith and dedication of two women making a big statement. The event is open to the public, free of charge.
