Members of the Alta Chamber of Commerce are hoping to put more bang in the Alta Bucks program with a new promotional campaign designed to help members of the public become more knowledgeable about the community-wide cooperative business venture in 2002.
The goal of the Alta Bucks enterprise is to encourage citizens from around the area to shop in stores throughout the city of Alta, and is also an attempt to provide a means for community businesses to come together and help promote the entire commercial district through one program.
While a part of the Alta business community for many years, the campaign had lost some of its luster since the late 1990s, and Barb Pingel, the Alta Chamber of Commerce Treasurer, said the new push by the organization is an effort to help reintroduce the concept of Alta Bucks into the public's mindset.
"Reenergize would be a good way to put it," Pingel said. "We're trying to concentrate on the promotion of it and helping everyone become aware that this program is out there. It's something that we've always had here in town, but it's just seemed to fade away over the past few years, and now we're trying to bring the Alta Bucks back into use around the area."
