On Sunday, February 17, at approximately 1:23 a.m., the Storm Lake Police Department was dispatched to 304 Superior Street in reference to an assault that had occurred.
Upon arrival, officers met with victims who stated that an altercation had broken out at the Superior Street address and two separate victims had been physically assaulted. Police were told that after the assault occurred they gave the suspect a ride to a residence located at 121 Oneida Street. The suspect ran into the house and returned brandishing a steak knife. The suspect approached the victim's vehicle and tapped on the window with the knife. The victims drove away with the suspect chasing the vehicle on foot.
Police searched the area for the suspect and at approximately 2 a.m., located the suspect identified as Jose Pilar Ramos, 28, of Storm Lake, at the residence at 121 Oneida Street.
Police took Ramos into custody without incident.
Storm Lake Police charged Ramos with Assault While Displaying a Dangerous Weapon (aggravated misdemeanor) and booked him into the Buena Vista County Jail on $6,500 cash bond.
The victims did not report any injuries. Ramos reported a minor injury to his face but did not seek medical attention.
