SL's Overturf named to all-Lakes second team
STORM LAKE - Brooke Overturf, a senior forward for Storm Lake, was named to the second team in the Lakes Conference for girls basketball, it was released.
Overturf leads the Tornadoes in scoring with 8.1 points a game and also averages 4.4 rebounds a contest. She shoots 36 percent from the field.
The first team consisted of Western Christian's Tara DeBoer and Rachel Van Beek, Estherville's Abby Olson and Maggie Peterson, Spencer's Katie Grave and Heather Brown, LeMars' Dana Lehner and Laura Reuter, and Sheldon's Meredith Vos.
DeBoer, Van Beek, Lehner, Vos and Grave were all unanimous selections.
Named to the second team were Erin Youngers and Michelle Kirschbaum of Sheldon, Amanda Eekhof of Western Christian, Amber Arens and Betsy Beach of LeMars, Christina Stangl of Estherville, Amy Lawson of Spencer, Abby Joynt of Emmetsburg, and Tracee Kroese of Spirit Lake.
Billie Blanchard and Jenny Woodford of Storm Lake were selected honorable mention.
Storm Lake finished 4-12 in the league this season and 6-15 overall. The Tornadoes play at LeMars in a first-round district tournament game on Thursday night. Western Christian was the league champion with a 15-1 mark.
