Jones sets school record with 10 3-point field goals, BV claims third title in 6 seasons.

The Buena Vista senior guard set a new school record with 10 3-point field goals made and finished with 36 points as Buena Vista clinched the Iowa Conference title with a 112-51 thrashing of the University of Dubuque on Saturday night at Siebens Center.
Buena Vista is now 15-1 in the league and 19-4 overall. It was Buena Vista's third conference title in six seasons under coach Brian Van Haaften.
Jones made 13 of 17 field goals overall, including an astounding 10 of 13 3-point shots. Jones moved into second place on the BV career scoring list with 1,735 points.
Buena Vista shot 57 percent in the first half to build a 51-24 halftime lead. The Beavers warmed up even more in the second half, making 72 percent of its shots in outscoring the Spartans 61-27.
For the game, Buena Vista made 44 of 69 field goals for 64 percent, including 16 of 27 from 3-point range. Dubuque was 19 of 64 for 30 percent and 5 of 19 from 3-point range.
Former Newell-Fonda prep Brandon Kies scored 17 points, while Robby Beyer finished with 12 points and eight rebounds.
Chris Petersen contributed 11 points and 13 rebounds. Rod Wiebers handed out nine assists, Casey Pelzer seven and Quinn Hildman five. Scott Weber added four steals.
Buena Vista will have homecourt advantage throughout the Iowa Conference tournament, which will be Feb. 19-23.
