Personal computer class to start Feb. 27 at ICCC

Learn the basics of operating a personal computer at an upcoming ICCC short course slated to start Wednesday morning, Feb. 27. The class will be held from 9 a.m. - 3 p.m. for three consecutive Wednesdays. A second section will be held from 6:30 - 9 p.m. for six consecutive Thursday evenings starting Feb. 28.

Participants will become familiar with basic terminology, care of a computer, wordprocessing, spreadsheets, databases and presentation software applications.

This hands-on class will utilize the software program Microsoft Office 2000. The cost for each short course is $90. Each course is limited to five participants. To register or for more information contact the ICCC Storm Lake Center at 712-732-2991.

Dirkx named to Mercy President's List

Jodi R. Dirkx, previously of Storm Lake, has been named to the President's List for the fall 2001 term at Mercy College of Health Sciences in Des Moines.

To qualify for this academic recognition, students must attain a grade point average (GPA) of 3.75 or higher for a minimum of six credit hours.

Storm Lake P.E.O Scholarship applications now available

Applications are now available for the Storm Lake P.E.O. Scholarship. This $1,000 scholarship will be awarded to a senior girl graduating this year from a Storm Lake High School who is planning further education at a public or private accredited college or university.

Applications are available from the Guidance Counselor at Storm Lake High School and St. Mary's High School. The application deadline is March 8.

Vossberg member of top 10 college dance squad

Trisha Vossberg of Storm Lake was a member of the University of Northern Iowa's Dance Team which finished 10th out of 24 Division I squads during the Universal Dance Association national competition in Orlando, Fla., last month. UNI received a "Superior" rating for its efforts.
