STORM LAKE - Scott Ellens poured in a game-high 23 points, grabbed eight rebounds and charted two steals to help propel Storm Lake to a 74-55 victory over Estherville on Tuesday night, snapping a two-game losing streak.
Storm Lake jumped out to a 19-12 lead after the first quarter before extending to a 43-23 halftime lead. It was 59-35 after the third period.
Tyler Youde had 10 points, A.J. Spielman nine and Nick Skibsted eight for Storm Lake, now 6-4 in the league and 10-4 overall.
Youde collected 11 rebounds and Skibsted had 10. Kurt Hanna tallied three assists, while Bandaluck Sayarath, Bob Blanchard and Mike Pierce all had two. Spielman and Hanna charted two steals apiece.
Storm Lake made 33 of 59 field goals for 56 percent.
"The offense finally clicked," Storm Lake coach Tim Keigan said. "We moved the ball better and did a good job of passing. Our guards did a good job penetrating and looking for our big guys. For the first time in about five games I was happy with our rebounding."
