STORM LAKE - Tyler Nichols and Pete Harder both finished second in their weight classes to help lead Storm Lake in the Lakes Conference wrestling tournament on Saturday at Tornado Fieldhouse.
Storm Lake finished seventh in the team standings with 95 points, one point behind fifth place. Emmetsburg was the team champion with 264.5 points. Spencer finished second with 200.5.
Nichols won his first match by pin in 22 seconds and lost in the 103-pound finals by pin in 1 minute, 23 seconds to Andrew Moritz of LeMars.
Harder won his first match by pin in 3:36, then won by decision 10-5 before falling in the 135-pound finals by pin in 5:32 to Maury Noonan of Emmetsburg.
Dylan Wagener finished third at 130 pounds. Wagener won his first match by decision 6-0, then lost by decision 12-5. He came back to win by pin in 1:19 and win by decision 7-3 in the third-place match.
Nick Wiley placed fourth at 119. He won his first match by pin in 1:47, then lost by pin in 1:34 and won by pin in 4:03. Wiley suffered a 3-1 setback in the third-place match.
George Romualdo finished fourth at 140. He won his first match by pin in 3:25, lost by pin in 1:36, then won by pin in 2:14 to reach the third-place match. There, Romualdo suffered a 5-4 defeat to Josh Ludwig of Emmetsburg.
Austin Brown placed fifth at 152 pounds. Brown lost by decision 10-4, won by pin in 32 seconds, lost by pin in 47 seconds and won by injury default in the fifth-place match.
Marc Wiley placed sixth at 112 pounds. He lost by technical fall 18-1, lost by major decision 13-5 and lost by decision 6-5 in the fifth-place match.
Brian Maxson placed sixth at 125. Maxson lost by pin in all three of his matches.
Brian Borchers captured the individual championship at 275 pounds to lead AGH to a sixth place finish at the George-Little Rock Invitational on Saturday.
Borchers won both of his matches. He defeated James Gossett of Sioux City East by injury default in the finals.
Matt Gustafson, Andy Todd and Kelly Kannegieter all finished second. Gustafson lost to Skyler Moore of Okoboji 6-5 in the finals at 130 pounds.
Todd lost 12-0 in the finals at 152, while Kannegieter was defeated by pin in 4:38 at 215.
Scott Radke place third at 160 pounds.
