Donald W. Bumann, age 71, died Tuesday, January 15, 2002 at the Buena Vista Regional Medical Center in Storm Lake following a lengthy illness.
Funeral services were held Friday, January 18, 2002 at St. John's Lutheran Church with Reverend Douglas Haynes officiating.
A memorial fund has been established.
Donald Wayne Bumann was born December 8, 1930 in Flint, Michigan to Julius and Pauline (Sievers) Bumann.
He married Donna M. LaLone at the First Lutheran Church in Omaha, Nebraska on May 27, 1955.
Don's first business venture was with Manufacturing Mowers. He established a long career as a building contractor, owning and operating Bumann Construction. He retired in 1998 due to health problems.
He was an active member of St. John's Lutheran Church where he served as a trustee. Don was an avid reader, enjoyed building music boxes, handcrafting furniture and restoring cars and motorcycles.
Don is survived by his wife Donna, Storm Lake; a sister Donna Jesse and her husband Robert, Bella Vista, Arkansas; nieces and nephews: Lynn Jesse and his wife Sue, Des Moines, Alan Jesse and his wife Julie, Peoria, Arizona, Coleen Imming and her husband Doug, Storm Lake, Jodi Mixdorf and her husband Mark, Steven's Point, Wisconsin, Jeanne Weir and her husband Brian, Port Washington, Wisconsin, Diane Utteck and her husband Cary, Wausau, Wisconsin and Gary LaLone and his wife Mishelle, Storm Lake; a sister-in-law LaDonna LaLone, Ida Grove and a brother-in-law Devon LaLone, Storm Lake.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother-in-law Robert LaLone and a sister-in-law Marlys LaLone.
