USDA Rural Development offers 502 loan program for local families
If a home loan with no down payment and a new low interest rate of 6.125 percent sounds inviting, USDA Rural Development is the place to go.
Rural Development offers a loan program to assist toward the purchase and repairs of an existing home or the construction of a new one.
The 502 loan program is available to individuals who are unable to obtain credit through conventional lenders, have good credit history and are able to show repayment ability. The maximum income limit for a family of four in Buena Vista, Sac and Ida Counties is $38,700.
To inquire into this program or to see if you qualify, please contact the local USDA Rural Development office, located at 1619 North Lake Avenue in Storm Lake. The phone number is 732-1851. Office hours are 8 - 4:30 p.m., Monday thru Friday.
ISU Extension to offer money management series for young adults
People in their 20's and 30's may have tight budgets, but they do have more of another resource-years of time ahead of them. In that time, they will make a lot of decisions, many of them involving money.
"The ABCs of Managing Your Money," a three-part series targeted to the interests of adults younger than middle age, will be offered at the Sac County Extension Office beginning March 12.
The series will be offered three Tuesday evenings (March 12, 19, and 26) from 6:30 to 8:45 p.m. The registration fee is $20 per individual or $25 per couple, which includes a copy of an excellent and user-friendly financial management reference book. Pre-register by March 5, by contacting the Sac County Extension at 662-7131.
