BV women shoot 25 percent in loss to Loras

DUBUQUE - Alicia Davis poured in a game-high 27 points and collected 12 rebounds to help carry Loras College to a 70-50 win over Buena Vista in an Iowa Conference game played on Saturday night at Dubuque.

Loras shot 44 percent and held Buena Vista to 27 percent shooting in the first half to take a 36-28 lead at intermission. The Duhawks held the Beavers to 23 percent shooting in the second half in outscoring them 34-22.

For the game, Loras was 25 of 59 for 42 percent. Buena Vista was 18 of 72 for 25 percent, including 4 of 21 from 3-point range.

Amy Jones added 17 points for Loras, now 5-9 overall.

Jessica Jensen led Buena Vista with 11 points. Julie Bloyer added eight.

Loras outrebounded Buena Vista 53-44. Bloyer collected seven, Jensen, Amy Meggers, Audrey Montag, Marsha Rupert and Jennifer Lange all had five.

Jensen, Meggers, Kelli Taylor and Megan Holtorf all had two assists apiece. Meggers charted three steals.

Buena Vista, now 2-5 in the league and 6-8 overall, hosts Luther and Upper Iowa this weekend.
