Ethel McGinty, 82, passed away Sunday, January 13, at Trinity Regional Medical Center, Fort Dodge.
Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m., Tuesday at St. Francis Catholic Church, Rockwell City, with Reverend Richard Kielbasa officiating at the Mass of Christian Burial. Burial will be at St. Francis Cemetery.
Ethel Elizabeth McGinty was born March 2, 1919 at Fonda. She graduated from Our Lady of Good Council School in Fonda. Following her education, she worked at M and JR Hakes Company in Florida. On June 21, 1946, she was united in marriage to Patrick Henry McGinty in Tilden, NE, and they established their home in Rockwell City, where they farmed for many years. Ethel was a homemaker and also was an Avon representative, achieving distinction in sales. Henry passed away in 1978. She was an active member of St. Francis Catholic Church and the St. Francis Altar Society. Ethel enjoyed playing cards, her bridge clubs, and being with friends. Her biggest joy was her family, in which she spent many happy hours baking, cooking, and entertaining them.
She is survived by her children: Thomas McGinty and his wife Audrey of Sac City, Patrick McGinty of Rockwell City, Timothy McGinty and his wife Pamela of Peoria, IL., Joanne McGinty of Rockwell City, and Marilyn McGinty of Naples, FL; grandchildren, Jill McGinty Dawson of Rockwell City, Stephanie Thomsen and Steven McGinty, both of Sac City, Kevin McGinty, Ryan McGinty and Jeffrey McGinty, all of Peoria, IL; and Will Mac'Kie of Naples FL; great-grandchild, Nathan Thomsen; sisters, Mary McCartan and Agnes Sauter, both of Fonda; sisters-in-law, Marge Mullen and Irene Mullen, both of Fonda.
She was preceded in death by her husband Henry; parents, Peter and Minnie Becker Mullen; and brothers, Peter and Arthur Mullen.
