Hegarty-Roach receives degree at South Dakota

Mia C. Hegarty-Roach, Ph.D. (Doctor of Philosophy) of Storm Lake received a degree in psychology from the University of South Dakota during commencement exercises held Dec. 15 at the Dakota Dome in Vermillion, S.D.

Demers participates in BVU clinical field experience at St. Mary's

Erica Demers of Lakeside is gaining experience in the field of education during Buena Vista University's January Interim.

Demers' experience in supervised participation is taking place in the fourth grade class under Lisa Weber and Jen Petty at Storm Lake St. Mary's School. Supervised participation is a clinical experience of at least 120 contact hours in which the student serves as a full-time association with one or more teachers.

Demers is a junior majoring in elementary education.

Registration deadline for indoor soccer is Jan. 25

Students in 1st through 4th grade will be receiving registration forms for the CommUNITY Education indoor soccer program in their schools this week, and the registration deadline is Jan. 25.

The program will be held at Storm Lake Middle School, and cost for registration is $15, which includes a team shirt. The program will kick off with a clinic at South School on Saturday, Feb. 9th, and games will be held weeknights starting Tuesday, Feb. 12.

Third and fourth graders will play together as will first and second graders. Kindergarten students will have a division of their own.
