The Buena Vista County Farm Bureau announces that scholarship opportunities are available to students through both the Buena Vista County Farm Bureau and the Iowa Farm Bureau Federation.
Buena Vista County Farm Bureau will be giving three scholarships this year to high school seniors in the amounts of $500, $400 and $300.
The Iowa Farm Bureau will be presenting a total of 54 $1,000 scholarships. The IFBF scholarships are available to both high school seniors as well as those currently in college.
To make it easier for the students, the Buena Vista County Farm Bureau will be utilizing the same scholarship application format used by the Iowa Farm Bureau so the students only need to fill out one form to apply for one or both scholarships.
These applications will be judged on the county level to determine the local winners and will also be judged using the state's criteria to select two applications to submit to the Iowa Farm Bureau for consideration.
An applicant for the Buena Vista County Farm Bureau scholarship must be a resident of Buena Vista County and be a member of a Buena Vista County Farm Bureau family.
The students may be planning to attend either a four- or two-year school or college, and their postsecondary education may also be at either a vocational or technical school.
The completed form needs to be returned to the Buena Vista County Farm Bureau, box 488, Storm Lake, Iowa 50588, by the deadline of March 1. Interviews with all the applicants will be scheduled individually following the deadline.
Applications have been sent to the guidance counselors at all the county schools. Students may contact their guidance counselor for an application form or the Buena Vista Farm Bureau office at 712-732-4004 and one will be sent to them to fill out.
