The City of Lakeside has passed the third and final reading of a new ordinance outlawing abandoned and junk motor vehicles in the city limits.
The council reviewed the city water ordinance, and a motion was made to set a $65 utility deposit, which is to be refunded by the city after 24 months of penalty-free service. A reconnect fee was increased to $75. Lakeside water rates will increase to $3 per 1,000 gallons, while Bel Air rates will rise to $3.18 in March.
A Medicaom franchise agreement was examined, with a franchise fee set at 5 percent of gross revenues, and city hall will be allowed a cable hook-up. The council voted unanimously to accept the agreement.
Wages for the year were set at $7.80 per hour for all laborers, $9.10 per hour for the city clerk, and $6 for other clerical help. Discussion on a potential raise for elected officials was tabled to investigate legalities.
The council decided to leave all city donations the same as last year's levels in cases of written requests such as that of Upper Des Moines Opportunity.
A new request from the Lake Preservation Association was tabled for more research.
