Wagener, Harder place second for SL wrestlers

Tuesday, January 8, 2002

CLEAR LAKE - Dylan Wagener and Pete Harder both finished second at their respective weight classes to help Storm Lake place eighth in the Clear Lake Invitational wrestling tournament Saturday.

Clear Lake won the meet and Algona finished second.

"You can't really look at where we finished as a team," Storm Lake coach Ty Seaman said. "We didn't take the full team and you just can't compete as a team with nine of the 14 weights."

Wagener lost to Mike Billings of Clear Lake 15-0 in the finals at 130 pounds. Harder fell to Loren Weiler of LeMars by pn in 3 minutes, 6 seconds in the 135-pound finals.

Nick Wiley and George Romualdo placed fourth at 119 and 140 pounds, respectively.

"The four kids that placed really wrestled well and we were happy with their performance," Seaman said. "As a team, we are still improving and that is what we are looking for. The kids are competing better and better. We just have to stay after it and keep making improvements."
