STORM LAKE - Lisa Fry scored off of a rebound at the buzzer to give Cornell College a 61-59 victory over Buena Vista in an Iowa Conference game on Saturday at Siebens Center.
Lindsey Pfalmer missed a shot with 3 seconds left and Fry grabbed the rebound and put it back in as the buzzer sounded.
Buena Vista led for much of the second half, clinging to a four to five-point lead. Cornell tied the game at 56-all on a layup by Lindsey Mesner with 1:55 remaining.
Cornell led 59-58 with 11 seconds left when Buena Vista's Amy Meggers made a free throw to tie the game at 59-59.
Buena Vista shot just 29 percent in the first half, but held a 25-21 halftime lead because Cornell shot 28.6 percent.
Cornell shot 39 percent in the second half in outscoring the Beavers 40-34. Buena Vista shot 37 percent in the second half.
For the game, Buena Vista made 22 of 66 field goals for 33 percent. Cornell was 23 of 67 for 34 percent.
Cornell made 4 of 9 3-point baskets. Buena Vista was 0 of 1.
Buena Vista lost the game despite owning a 60-38 advantage in rebounding.
Julie Bloyer led the Beavers with 14 points and 15 rebounds. Kelli Taylor had nine points and Audrey Montag added eight.
Meggers collected nine rebounds, Montag eight and Jennifer Lange six.
Montag, Jessica Jensen and Megan Holtorf all had two assists apiece for the Beavers.
Fry led all scorers with 21 points for Cornell.
