James Connor Hoffman, 82, of Early, died Thursday, January 3, 2002, at his home in Early.
Funeral services were held Monday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Early with the Father Patrick O'Kane officiating. Burial was in Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery in Early.
James Connor Hoffman was born August 31, 1919, in Wheaton, Ill., the son of John and Beatrice (Connor) Hoffman. He received his education in Wheaton, Ill., graduating from St. Michael's High School. James served in the Army Air Force during World War II.
James was married to Berta Rose Maddux on October 6, 1966, in Wheaton, Ill.
He was employed as a sales manager for Sears in Maywood, Ill., retiring in 1967. He then relocated to Early and owned and operated the Early Antique Shop until 2000.
He is survived by his wife Berta Rose, Early; children Marcia Coan and her husband Larry, Amboy, Ill., and Steve Maddux and his wife Susan, Wheaton, Ill.; five grandchildren; four great-grandchildren and a sister Mary Steinmetz, Wyckliff, Ohio.
James was preceded in death by his parents and a brother John.
