STORM LAKE - The Buena Vista wrestling team will be taking part in a brand-new concept.
The Cliff Keen/National Wrestling Coaches Association National Duals, hosted by Ohio State University in Columbus, will bring together for the first time a three-division format on Jan. 19. This new format will feature 90 dual meets on 12 mats over two days. Three separate 16-team individual dual meet championships will be run simultaneously, making it the greatest display of wrestling in the nation.
Teams participating in Division I include defending national champion Minnesota, Arizona State, Central Michigan, Edinboro, Fresno State, Iowa, Iowa State, Lehigh, Lock Haven, Michigan, Michigan State, Northern Iowa, Ohio State, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State and Penn.
The lineup for Division II includes two-time defending national champions North Dakota State, American International, Ashland, Augustana College, Carson-Newman, Central Missouri State, Central Oklahoma, Central Washington, Chadron State, Gannon College, Indianapolis, University of Nebraska-Omaha, Pittsburgh-Johnstown, South Dakota State, St. Cloud State and West Liberty.
The field for Division III features defending national champion Augsburg, Buena Vista, Delaware Valley, Ithaca, John Carroll, Kings College, University of Wisconsin-LaCrosse, Luther, Lycoming, Montclair State, Ohio Northern, Springfield, The College of New Jersey, Thiel, Wartburg and Upper Iowa.
