Man arrested for hit-and-run
On the evening of Tuesday, January 1, at approximately 7:41 p.m., the Storm Lake Police Department was dispatched to the parking lot in front of Al's liquor Store on West Milwaukee in reference to a hit and run accident that had just occurred.
Police learned that a 1995 Chevy S10 pick-up truck had just struck a 1999 Dodge Ram pick-up truck in the parking lot and then left the scene. The vehicle that fled the scene left in an eastbound direction.
Police located the suspect vehicle and stopped it in the Dynos Parking Lot. Police made contact with the driver of the vehicle identified as Jesse Rodriquez, 33, of Lakeside. Police determined Rodriquez to be intoxicated and arrested him. He was charged with OWI 1st Offense, Striking an Unattended Vehicle and No Drivers License. Police further determined that Rodriquez was wanted on outstanding warrants charging him with Failure to Appear in Court reference Public Intoxication, Contempt of Court-Failure to Comply with Batterers Program and a Mittimus reference past Domestic Abuse.
Rodriquez was booked into the Buena Vista County Jail on $3,615 cash bond.
There were no reported injuries.
The Storm Lake Police Department was assisted by the Iowa State Patrol.
