The Storm Lake School District has revised its "learning school facts" for the 2000-2001 school year.
The pamphlet contains financial information and points of pride about the district.
The total enrollment for the Storm Lake School District is 1,932.2 students. There are 147 certified teachers, nine administrators, 122 support staff. The student-teacher ration is 13.14:1.
The district's operating budget is $13,388,542. The assessed valuation per pupil is $146,743, and cost per student is $4,338. The average teacher salary is $35,308.
In the current year's operating fund, 61.2 percent of the expenditures went to salaries for all personnel; 15.66 percent goes to benefits; 9.95 percent go to materials and supplies; 7.45 percent goes to Community Ed, crossing guards, purchases and tuition; 4.31 percent goes to AEA flow through; and 1.51 percent goes to capital equipment outlays.
Revenue sources are made up of 57.35 percent of state aid; 26.89 percent from property taxes; 10.21 percent from federal aid; and 5.37 percent from other local revenue.
There is a total of $750,000 in grant money awarded to the district for before and after-school programs, AmeriCorps and several technology grants.
The athletic boosters donated almost $20,000 to support activity programs.
One-hundred percent of the classrooms are equipped with computers and connected to the Internet. There are 11 computer labs throughout the district, and at least one in each building.
Ninety-eight percent of elementary parents attended parent-teacher conferences this year.
Twenty-nine students were inducted into the National Honor Society, while six seniors were recognized as State of Iowa Scholars and two students graduated with 4.0 grade point averages.
