The 7th annual Ag Expo will be Thursday, Jan. 10, at the Hultgrens Gerlach Building in Storm Lake. Over 60 ag-related exhibitors are expected to attend.
This year's featured speakers for the information sessions are Dr. Norlan Hartwig from Iowa State University and Emily Eide of the Iowa Farm Bureau Federation.
Dr. Hartwig is a professor and Extension veterinarian in the College of Veterinary Medicine at ISU. He is also responsible for biosecurity education in the ISU College of Veterinary Medicine, and is a member of the Iowa Foot and Mouth Disease Response Team.
Dr. Hartwig will speak about bioterrorism, disease transmission from animals to humans, as well as protecting the livestock industry and the American food supply. He will speak at 10 a.m. at the Ag Expo.
Emily Eide is director of national affairs with the Iowa Farm Bureau Federation. She works with County Farm Bureau national affairs and coordinates Iowa Farm Bureau activities with the American Farm Bureau lobbyists in Washington, D.C.
Eide will speak about the latest issues concerning the changes in national farm programs. She will speak at 2 p.m. at the Ag Expo.
