Genesis Development gets accreditation award

Friday, December 28, 2001

Genesis Development has received official notification from CARF that it has been awarded a Three-year Accreditation Award, the highest award given by the international accrediting body.

The accreditation was received in the areas of Employment Services for Employment Services Coordination, Employment Planning Services, Employee Development Services, Organizational Employment Services and Community Employment Services and in Community Services for Community Services Coordination, Personal and Social Services and Community Living Services.

This accreditation outcome is awarded to organizations that show substantial fulfillment of the standards established by CARF. To attain the Three-Year Accreditation, Genesis put itself through a rigorous peer review process at all sites and demonstrated that its programs and services are of the highest quality, measurable and accountable. In addition it had to clearly indicate that present conditions represent an established pattern of total operations that is likely to be maintained or improved in the foreseeable future.

This award marks the 7th consecutive Three-Year Accreditation outcome awarded to Genesis Development by CARF and is an indication of the organization's dedication and commitment to improving the quality of the lives of the people receiving services.

Genesis Development is a not-for-profit rehabilitation organization with offices and residential home in Jefferson, Boone, Storm Lake, Winterset and Panora. It has been providing services and supports to people with mental illness, mental retardation, brain injury and development disabilities since 1973 and is now serving over 550 people from 42 counties.

CARF is an independent, not-for-profit accrediting body promoting quality, value and optimal outcomes of services through a consultative accreditation process that centers on enhancing the lives of the persons served. Since 1966, CARF has established consumer focused standards to help organizations measure and improve the quality of their programs and services.
