6-month-old clothing businesses fills a key Lake Avenue vacancy.
A new Storm Lake family and maternity apparel store moved to a prime location on the corner of Lake Avenue and East Railroad last Monday, and the shop's owners are hoping the larger-sized property helps their profits increase in size as well.
Daniel and Lucia Romero, who own L.A. Fashion, moved their entire selection of merchandise down the street from their former location at 103 E. Railroad earlier this week, and said they decided to make the change to better serve their customers and have room to grow in the future.
"We needed more space, because we were getting pretty overcrowded in our old location," Lucia said. "We felt that we really needed the extra space to expand and have a bigger store."
While there were several spaces in town which the pair could have moved their business to, Daniel said the combination of the high visibility of the corner site and the short distance between former and current addresses made the move to the former Page by Page property the most sensible option.
"We had looked at other places here in Storm Lake, but we thought this was the best place for us right now," Daniel said. "We have great visibility here with this spot and it just worked out a lot better for us to move here instead of elsewhere in town."
The Romeros said the store, which opened for business in Storm Lake during the first weekend of July 2001, will continue to carry a large line of family clothes and maternity items, and will likely showcase a larger selection of items in the future.
"We're very excited about this," Daniel said. "We've been pleased so far with the business we have done in Storm Lake, and we think this move will help us quite a bit in the future."
L.A. Fashion is open from 10:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Monday through Saturday and from 1:15 to 5:15 on Sundays.
