G-H girls turn back Westwood

Tuesday, December 18, 2001

SLOAN - Donna Hanson scored a career-high 20 points, handed out four assists, and charted three steals to help send Galva-Holstein past Westwood 42-36 in a Maple Valley Conference game last Friday night at Sloan.

Galva-Holstein held a 10-4 lead after the first quarter. It led 24-18 at halftime and 31-28 entering the fourth period.

Hanson scored 14 of her 20 points in the first half. Darci Vohs had six points, eight rebounds, two assists and three steals for the Pirates. Kelly Andresen added six points and three assists.

"We didn't play our best game, but we came out with a win," Galva-Holstein coach Eric Myrtue said. "Westwood has been steadily improving and we found that out. We never really got into sync, but we held on."
