City set to take first step in lake dredging

Thursday, December 13, 2001

Storm Lake Mayor Jon Kruse announced late Wednesday night that the Storm Lake City Council will make a decision on the purchase of 160 acres of land at Monday's regular city council meeting. The announcement came during a joint city-county meeting at City Hall.

Kruse said the land, located east of the municipal golf course and the Lakeside blacktop, could be an ideal place for a spoil site for an expanded local dredging project.

The land purchase, if approved by the council, would be a big shot in the arm for local efforts to expand a 180-acre dredging project scheduled to begin next year by the DNR.

Further details will appear in Saturday's Pilot-Tribune.
