VANDALISM

On Thursday, December 6, the City of Storm Lake reported damage to a white Ford City vehicle. The passenger side mirror was broken off. Damage to the vehicle is estimated at $200.

THEFT

On Friday, December 7, Robin Franzen of Lakeside, reported the theft of a license plate from her car. The license plate is valued at $10.

ACCIDENTS

On December 7, at 9:09 a.m., an accident occurred at 601 West 4th Street. A 1994 PTRB, driven by Ralph Schulz, 54, of Beresford, South Dakota was attempting to back up in the alley when Schulz struck a garage. Damage to the vehicle is estimated at $50, damage to the garage is estimated at $3000.

On December 7, at 11:34 a.m., an accident occurred at 1400 Michigan Street. A 1996 Chevrolet, owned by Wiese Plumbing, 1400 Michigan Street, was parked in the driveway. A 1991 INTL., driven by Bradley Martin, 27, of 2008 West 5th Street, was attempting to back up into the driveway and struck the Wiese vehicle. Damage to the vehicles is estimated at $0 to the Martin vehicle and $700 to the Wiese vehicle.

On December 7, at 12:51 p.m., an accident occurred in the 1100 block of Lake Avenue. A 2001 GMC, driven by Mark Brus, 33, of Nemaha, was traveling south on Lake Avenue. A 1989 Ford, driven by Karl Larson, 24, of Cherokee, rear ended the Brus vehicle when it slowed for another vehicle. Larson was charged with Failure to maintain control. Damage to the vehicles is estimated at $300 for the Brus vehicle and $3000 for the Larson vehicle.

On December 7, at 4:05 p.m., an accident occurred at the intersection of Flindt Drive and Richland Street. A 1985 Cadillac, driven by David Toepper, 40, of 224 Oneida Street, was stopped eastbound, waiting to turn right on red. A 1995 FRHT, driven by Bradley Fear, Spencer, pulled up next to the Toepper vehicle also waiting to turn right on red. Fear thought Toepper was already gone so he turned and struck the Toepper vehicle. Damage to the vehicles is estimated at $9000 for the Toepper vehicle and $1000 for the Fear vehicle.

On December 7, at 8:10 a.m., an accident occurred on Tornado Drive in front of the high school. A 1986 Buick, driven by Cody Dettman, 16, of Lakeside, was traveling west on a private driveway attempting to turn east onto Tornado Drive. A 1999 Oldsmobile, driven by Javier Carrusco, 17, of 909 East Milwaukee Avenues, was westbound on Tornado Drive and struck the Dettman vehicle as it was attempting to turn onto Tornado Drive. Damage to the vehicles is estimated at $1000 for the Dettman vehicle and $1000 for the Carrusco vehicle.

On December 8, at 4:43 p.m., an accident occurred in the intersection of Lake Avenue and East 12th Street. A 1990 Buick, driven by Dale Springer, 50, Cherokee, was northbound on Lake Avenue, turning west. A 1999 Ford, driven by Debra Gransow, 35, 3 North Windsor Circle, was southbound of Lake Avenue. The vehicles collided. Springer was charged with Failure to Yield on Left Turn. Damage was estimated at $2,000 to the Springer vehicle and $2000 to the Gransow vehicle.

On December 9, at 2:16 a.m., an accident occurred 20 feet south of the intersection of Lake Avenue and East Milwaukee Avenue. A 2001, Chevy, driven by Benjamin Mendez, 42, 115 East 10th Street, was northbound on Lake Avenue and stopped for the red light. A 1990 Oldsmobile, driven by Omar Tamayo-Cruz, 19, Spencer, traveling behind the Mendez vehicle, failed to stop, and struck the rear of the Mendez vehicle. Tamayo-Dominguez was charged with OWI, Failure to Stop Safe Distance, No Drivers License, and No Proof of Insurance. Damage was estimated at $1000 to the Mendez vehicle and $1500 to the Tamayo-Dominguez vehicle.

On December 4, at 5:30 p.m., a hit and run accident occurred in the alley in the 500 block of Erie Street. A 1989 Chevy, owned by Brian Nelsen, 1104 West 6th Street, was parked in the alley when it was struck by an unknown vehicle which left the scene. Damage was estimated at $500 to the Nelsen vehicle.
