Funeral services for Emma Kreft, 103, Storm Lake, will be 10 a.m. Tuesday, December 11, at St. John Lutheran Church in Storm Lake, with Pastor Douglas Haynes officiating. Burial will be in the Buena Vista Memorial Park Cemetery.
There will be no visitation. Arrangements are under the direction of the Sliefert Redig Funeral Home in Storm Lake.
Emma died Sunday, December 9, at Methodist Manor in Storm Lake, where she had been a resident since January 30, 1996.
Emma was born August 20, 1898, the daughter of Hans O. and Louise (Schug) Mohr, northwest of Auburn, in Sac County. She was baptized and confirmed in the Coon Valley Lutheran Church in rural Sac County. On December 10, 1919, Emma married Martin Kreft. The couple farmed in the Lytton area until his death in 1945. Emma moved to Storm Lake in 1948 and was employed as a waitress in Ella's Cafe, and in her later years she baby-sat with small children. She was a member of St. John Lutheran Church, and enjoyed working with her flowers and gardening, crocheting, reading and walking.
Preceding Emma in death were her parents, her husband, son Lester, daughter Marlys Lalone, son-in-law Wayne Thomson, four brothers Otto, George, Albert and Frank Mohr, and two sisters, Anna Lussman and Sophia Mohr.
Survivors include her daughter Connie Thomson of Ida Grove; son-in-law Devon Lalone of Storm Lake; five grandchildren, Gary and Mishell Lalone, Diane (DeeDee) and husband Cary Uttech, Terry and wife Carol Thomson, JoDee and husband Jeff Hewitt, and Tammi and husband Jamie Hewitt; fourteen great-grandchildren; and one sister, Lucille and husband Leo Morenz of Storm Lake, and nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends.
