Witter extends sculpture exhibit

Tuesday, December 11, 2001

The current exhibition at the Witter Gallery has been extended.

"Nothing Gold Can Stay," an unusual collection of handmade paper sculpture by Joyce Utting Schutter of Farnhamville, will be on display until January 11. This exhibit is inspired by Robert Frost's poem of the same name and is sponsored by Citizens 1st National Bank.

Ms. Schutter received a BFA, an MA, and a MFA from the University of Iowa. She majored in sculpture and minored in ceramics and drawing. She is currently an Adjunct Professor at Iowa Central Community College in Fort Dodge, where she teaches design, drawing and sculpture. Her specialized knowledge of pulp spraying methods has been discussed in a new book on papermaking by Helen Hiebert. She is inspired in her work by the inter-connectedness of all things. Each piece contain symbolic references for the artist.
