Ruth V. Carlson, 85, formerly of Fonda, passed away Tuesday, December 4, at Stewart Memorial Community Hospital, Lake City.
Funeral services will be 1 p.m., Friday at the Fonda Presbyterian Church, Fonda, with Reverend John Kerr and Reverend B.J. Ukena officiating. Burial will be at Cedar Cemetery, Fonda. Visitation will be from 3-8 p.m., Thursday with the family present after 4 p.m., at the Palmer-Swank Funeral Home, Rockwell City.
She is survived by her brother-in-law, John Weidauer of Laurens; niece, Alice McDaniel and her husband Gerald of Laurens; and nephews, David Ohrtman of Newell and Edwin Ohrtman and his wife Sheryl of Fonda.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Edwin E. and Gertrude S. Eaton Carlson; and sisters, Margie Weidauer and Helen Ohrtman.
Ruth V. Carlson was born on August 7, 1916, at Fonda. She graduated from Fonda High School in 1933. Ruth taught country schools in Pocahontas and Calhoun Counties. In 1968, she moved to Rockwell City where she did private tutoring in her home for many years. She has been a member of the Fonda Presbyterian Church since 1927.
