Joel Corlew scored 17 points to help lead the Alta Cyclones freshman basketball team to a 70-20 win over the Schaller-Crestland Wildcats recently.
Alta led 37-7 at halftime as every team member scored. Adam Pederson and Justin DeMan had 14 and 12 points, respectively. Nick Nesbitt scored nine, and Neal Peterson and Derek Lietz each had six.
Pederson led the Cyclones in rebounding with eight. Hinkeldey collected five, and Corlew, Nesbitt and DeMan four apiece for Alta, now 1-0 overall.
- Steve Hamer scored 13 points and grabbed four rebounds as Alta defeated Schaller-Crestland in the junior varsity game, 72-37.
The Cyclones were up 26-24 at halftime, but outscored the Wildcats by a margin of 44-13 in the second half to pull away with the victory.
Heath Stille led the junior varsity squad by recording a double-double, collecting 10 points and snaring 10 rebounds. Justin DeMan also had a productive game for Alta, as he scored 11 points and pulled down five rebounds.
Jon Wienhold added nine points, Thomas Allerdings eight, Jamie Hammer seven and Jon Francis six for the Cyclones, now 1-0 overall.
