MANSON - Joey Galvin, Matt Gustafson and Brian Borchers all finished first at their respective weight classes to help AGH place third in the Manson Northwest Webster Tournament on Saturday.
Southern Calhoun won the meet with 144 points. Schaller-Crestland was second with 138.5, followed by AGH with 133. Alta was seventh with 120 points.
Galvin defeated Alta's Corey Diischer by pin in 1 minute, 57 seconds in the finals at 125 pounds. Gustafson pinned Ogden's Cory Anderson in 2:46 in the 130-pound finals, while Borchers pinned Southern Calhoun's Andy Kavanaugh in 1:37 in the finals at 275.
Kelly Kannegeiter finished second at 215 pounds. He lost by pin in the finals. Eric Conover placed fourth at 119. Andy Todd took fifth at 160, as did Scott Radke at 171 and Matt Harris at 189. Michael Walker was sixth at 112 pounds.
"We were in the hunt all day and felt with a little better consolation round could have been there at the end," AGH coach Scott Phelps said. "We were happy with nine out of our 12 wrestlers placing in the top six. We were also happy with four guys in the finals and three winning by pin against good wrestlers. The kids wrestled very well for the most part and were always looking for the fall."
AGH wrestles Battle Creek-Ida Grove and Maple Valley/Anthon-Oto on Thursday night.
