VANDALISM

On Friday, November 23, Sandra Valdovinas of 804 East 1st Street, reported vandalism to her car while parked in the IBP parking lot. The vehicle was scratched with an unknown object. Damage to the vehicle is estimated at $500.

ACCIDENTS

On November 22, at 1:56 p.m., an accident occurred at 709 East 10th Street. An Artic Cat ATV, driven by Keaton Dreher, 10, of 709 East 10th Street, was traveling westbound and lost control. There was no damage reported to the ATV.

On November 23, at 6:36 p.m., an accident occurred in the parking lot of 1423 North Lake Avenue. A 1998 Ford, driven by Bruce Nelsen, 61, of 929 Angier Drive, struck a sign in the parking lot. Damage to the vehicle is estimated at $1500.

On November 23, at 3:44 p.m., an accident occurred at the intersection of C-49 and North Lake Avenue. A 1896 Toyota, driven by Jennifer Peterson, 17, of Rembrandt, was attempting to turn South onto North Lake Avenue from C-49, when the vehicle skid and went into the west ditch of North Lake Avenue and struck a street sign. Damage to the Peterson vehicle is estimated at $800. Damage to the sign is estimated at $100.

On November 24, at 6:50 p.m., an accident occurred in the Hardee's parking lot, 605 Flindt Drive. A 1985 Buick, driven by Lewis Woodle, 83, 325 Seneca Street, A, which had pulled up to the drive-up window too far from the building, backed up, and struck a 1998 Ford, driven by George Mangold, 53, Hill City, SD, which had pulled up behind the Woodle vehicle. Damage was estimated at $500 to the Mangold vehicle and $50 to the Woodle vehicle.

On November 24, at 6:55 p.m., an accident occurred in the 100 block of East Lakeshore Drive. A 1993 Pontiac, driven by Marion Gibbins, 17, 1161-590th Street was traveling westbound on East Lakeshore Drive. A 1981 Chevy, driven by Aaron Mendenhall, 16, Newell, was traveling westbound behind the Gibbins vehicle. When the Gibbins vehicle stopped abruptly, the Mendenhall vehicle could not stop in time and struck the Gibbins vehicle. Mendenhall was charged with Failure to Stop Within Assured Distance. Damage was estimated at $2,000 to the Gibbins vehicle and $1000 to the Mendenhall vehicle.

On November 19, at 11 a.m., and accident occurred in the 200 block of West Milwaukee Avenue. A 2001 Chrysler, driven by David Chown, 54, Galva, was traveling east on West Milwaukee Avenue. A 1989 Chevy, driven by Ruth Smith, 68, Newell, also traveling east on West Milwaukee Avenue, changed lanes, and struck the Chown vehicle. Smith was charged with Improper Lane Change. Damage was estimated at $800 to the Chown vehicle and $50 to the Smith vehicle.

On November 24, at 10:30 p.m., an accident occurred in the 800 blocks of East 5th Street. A 1994, driven by Cindy Mechura, 31, 912 Pinecrest Drive, was eastbound on East 5th Street, traveling off the roadway. The Mechura vehicle struck mailboxes belonging to Norm Seeden, 907 East 5th Street; Barry Thongvanh, 815 East 5th Street, and Dana Vennick, 917 East 5th Street. Mechura was charged with Reckless Driving. Damage was estimated at $3000 to the Mechura vehicle and $100 to each of the mailboxes.

THEFT

On November 23, Marian Young, 820 Northwestern Drive, reported the theft of cash, three checks, a Medicare card, and a Social Security card from her wallet at an unknown location sometime after November 14, when she had her wallet in her vehicle. Estimated value of the stolen property is $45.

BURGLARY

On November 26, Charlene Wetherell, 821 Greenwood Drive, reported a burglary to her home sometime between the hours of 10:30 p.m., on November 35 and 6:20 a.m., on November 26, where she discovered two garage doors standing open, and her dog that was in the garage was at large. There was no forced entry. Nothing was missing from the residence.

On November 24, at 10:30 p.m., an accident occurred in the 800 blocks of East 5th Street. A 1994, driven by Cindy Mechura, 31, 912 Pinecrest Drive, was eastbound on East 5th Street, traveling off the roadway. The Mechura vehicle struck mailboxes belonging to Norm Seeden, 907 East 5th Street; Barry Thongvanh, 815 East 5th Street, and Dana Vennick, 917 East 5th Street. Mechura was charged with Reckless Driving. Damage was estimated at $3000 to the Mechura vehicle and $100 to each of the mailboxes.

On November 24, at 9:45 p.m., an accident occurred at the intersection of West Milwaukee Avenue and Lake Avenue. A 1998 Pontiac, driven by Beth Hueschen, 54, Holstein, was eastbound on West Milwaukee Avenue and had entered the left turn only lane. A 1997 Dodge, driven by Dean Barber, 44, Independence, Mo., westbound in the inside lane of East Milwaukee Avenue, crossed the intersection with Lake Avenue, directly in the path of the Hueschen vehicle, striking it, and then left the scene. Barber was later located and was charged with Leaving the Scene of an Accident,, Failure To Have Control, and Reckless Driving. Damage was estimated at $1,500 to the Hueschen vehicle and $1,200 to the Barber vehicle.
