Ordella J. Thompson, age 92, of Schaller, died Monday, November 26th at the Odebolt Nursing Home after a lengthy illness.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, November 29th at 10:30 a.m. at the St. Paul Lutheran Church with Pastor David Hagen officiating. Burial will be in the Schaller Cemetery in Schaller.
Ordella J. Thompson was born October 22, 1909 in Gilbert, Iowa the daughter of Amos and Emma (Larson) Fossel. She graduated from Gilbert High School and from Iowa State Teachers College in Cedar Falls. She taught school in Dinsdale, Iowa.
She was married to Gilbert P. Thompson on December 24, 1932 at Des Moines.
The couple moved to Schaller in 1944 where they owned and operated the Thompson Hardware Store until their retirement in 1978.
Ordella was a member of the St. Paul Lutheran Church and the ladies aid.
She enjoyed playing bridge and was a member of several bridge clubs.
Ordella is survived by a daughter Norma Jean and her husband Dr. David Thompson, Naperville, IL; two sons: Don and his wife Deb, Schaller and Charles and his wife Leona, Denison; 8 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren; two sisters: Mildred Simon, Roanoke, VA and Pearl Fossel, Ames and a brother Kenneth Fossel and his wife Margaret, Gilbert.
Preceding Ordella in death were her parents, her husband, Gilbert on June 23, 1979; two brothers LeRoy and Alvin, and a granddaughter Catherine Thompson.
