Alta High students honored by Who's Who

A total of 26 students from Alta High School are included in the 35th Annual Edition of Who's Who Among American High School Students, 2000-2001.

Who's Who, published by Educational Communications, Inc., is the largest recognition program and publication in the nation honoring high achieving high school students.

Students are nominated by high school principals and guidance counselors, national youth groups, churches and educational organizations based upon students' academic achievement and involvement in extracurricular activities.

The 35th Annual Edition of Who's Who Among American High School Students, 2000-2001, published in 18 regional volumes, features over 750,000 students - just five percent of the nation's 15 million high school students.

The students honored from Alta are: Heather Anderson, Megan Bishop, Megan Brechwald, Brad Bunjes, Wes Bunjes, Crystal Camerer, Jillian Carstensen, Tyler DeMan, Amy Demers, Sarah Gregg, Johanna Grieme, Greta Lichtenberg, Brent Lytle, Kristy McGowan, Heidi Meyer, Tyler Milard, Brian Miller, Jackie Moore, Ryan Nehring, Lacey Nielsen, Diana Paup, Brittany Ryherd, Shawn Siefken, Brooke Sliefert, Nicole Sliefert and Heath Stille.

Alta Order of Eastern Star to meet Dec. 4

Members of Alta Chapter #138, Order of Eastern Star will hold their next meeting on Dec. 4. Members are to bring nonperishable food items to be donated to the Lord's Cupboard in lieu of a gift exchange.

Stafford tours Twin Cities for business course

Morningside College freshman Willie Stafford III, son of Willie and Kelly Stafford of Alta, recently took part in the sixth annual Metropolitan Business Tour of Minneapolis as part of the college's "Discovering Entrepreneurship" course.

Stafford is a 2001 graduate of Alta High School.

The Morningside class is designed for freshmen interested in exploring a possible major in business or accounting. It includes traditional course work supplemented with interactive exercises, tours to regional businesses and alumni speakers.

VVA Chapter 888 to hold Christmas party

The VVA Chapter 888 will be having their annual Christmas party on Sunday, Dec. 2, starting at 2 p.m. at the Alta Community Building.

All members and friends are invited. There will be a Potluck dinner with a $5 gift exchange.

We will be making care packages for local U.S. Servicemen overseas. Please bring something for their boxes.
