Police seek help to solve strange series of burglaries

The Storm Lake Police Department is asking the community's assistance in solving a series of burglaries and suspicious activities.

On Wednesday, November 21 at 2:30 a.m. residents at 312 1/2 East 5th Street heard a subject open their front door. Residents yelled out, and the person fled on foot. It was impossible to get a good description.

On Thursday, November 22, at approximately 12:45 a.m. a resident at 1315 Lochedem Drive awoke to a noise in the bedroom, and found someone in the room. The resident chased the suspect from the home on foot. The subject stole approximately $17 in cash, and was described as being small in stature and wearing a dark colored hooded sweatshirt.

On Sunday, November 25, at approximately 10:13 p.m. a resident at 5 Colonial Circle saw a subject standing on the deck at the rear of their residence. The subject rang the doorbell of the house. As the resident of the house approached the door the subject fled on foot in a westward direction. The subject is described as a young male with dark hair and a dark colored jacket.

On Sunday, November 25, at approximately 11:55 p.m. the residents at #1 Rockwell Court heard someone in their home. Residents heard the suspect flee from the house. The suspect stole approximately $145 in cash. There was no description available.

The Storm Lake Police Department is asking anyone with information on these incidents to contact the Police Department at 732-8010.

Further the Police Department is reminding citizens that during this Holiday Season when Christmas Packages are lying around the house citizens should lock their homes and utilize exterior lighting for visibility outside of your homes.

Citizens are asked to report any suspicious activities, noises or people to the Police Department as soon as possible.
