Katie Freese, 98 of Lake View, died Sunday, Nov. 18, 2001, at the Loring Hospital in Sac City following a brief illness.
Funeral services were Friday, Nov. 23 at the United Church of Christ with the Reverend Jerry Schultz officiating. Burial was in the Wall Lake Cemetery in Wall Lake.
Katie Freese was born Dec. 14, 1902, in Crawford County, the daughter of Martin and Geeseke (Maise) Peters. She attended Crawford County schools where she graduated from the 8th grade.
She was married to John Freese on Feb. 25, 1920, in the Wheatland Presbyterian Church at Breda. The couple was married for 74 years and one month. John died on March 18, 1994.
Katie was a homemaker. She was a member of the United Church of Christ in Lake View and the Rebeka Lodge. She enjoyed gardening, raising flowers, cleaning her house, reading and visiting with friends and family.
Katie is survived by three sons, Harvey and his wife Marie, Vaca Ville, Calif., Marvin and his wife Marge and Kenneth and his wife Vesta, all of Lake View; two daughters Ruth Daggett and Gertrude Nansteel and her husband Robert, all of Lake View; 19 grandchildren and many great grandchildren.
Preceding Katie in death were her parents, her husband, John, a granddaughter Darla Kay, two brothers Joe and John; a son-in-law Maynard Daggett and a daughter-in-law Marjorie.
