Are you looking for the perfect holiday gift for someone special?

The Friends of the Storm Lake Public Library Holiday Literary Gift Baskets are a great way to give a creative, unique gift and support the library at the same time.

The Holiday Literary Gift Basket Project is a community effort. Local businesses donate $100 each toward the project, and volunteers and library staff work together to create the baskets. Each basket is based on a theme, and they all contain a book and other items that fit the theme.

There are a variety of themes for this year's baskets, with some of those themes including Elvis, Marilyn Monroe, Poetry, Clifford the Big Red Dog, Wine and Cheese, American Girls, Jan Karon's Mitford Series, Gardening, Fishing, and Cooking. There are 38 baskets in all, with themes that will make great gifts for kids from ages one to 91.

The Literary Gift Baskets are sold "silent auction" style, and anyone can submit a bid on as many baskets as they wish. All proceeds from the literary basket project will go toward supporting the Storm Lake Public Library.

Mark your Calendars for These Important Dates: Through December 3, baskets will be displayed at the Library and in the Forbes window downtown. Bids can be made on any basket during that time.

On December 3, baskets will be moved from local businesses to be on display at the Witter Gallery Wassail Party. Again, Bids will be taken there.

The last chance to bid will be at the Library Open House and Chamber After Hours on Wednesday, December 5, from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Storm Lake Public Library.

High bidders will be notified by December 7, and all baskets will be delivered or available to be picked up that day.
