Over 100 "elves" gathered at Santa's Castle recently for an "Evening with the Elves" and the chance to witness the magic of Santa's Castle for the first time prior to its opening on November 22.
The "Evening with the Elves" event was held on Wednesday, November 14. The "elves" included members of the Storm Lake Chamber of Commerce and volunteers involved with the renovation of Santa's Castle this year.
"The Castle premiere was great," Marilyn Monson, Managing Director of the Storm Lake Chamber of Commerce, said. "There were so many people who had good comments, and many could see a remarkable improvement in the Castle."
At the event, individuals were able to have their picture taken with Santa Claus and also decorate their own holiday cookies, besides previewing the Castle for the first time this holiday season.
Santa's Castle has undergone considerable restoration, which has been aided by the help of dedicated volunteers and through the financial support of individuals and businesses of Storm Lake and the surrounding communities. Financial contributions to Santa's Castle have surpassed the $4500 mark.
Volunteers as hosts and hostesses, readers, Santa's and others for both Santa's Castle and the new Santa's Workshop are still needed. Santa's Castle also has a wish list of items that includes: a dehumidifier, new carpet, janitor, masonry work, water heater, vacuum, plastic for the windows and decorations.
If anyone would like to volunteer at either location, donate and item on the wish list or make a donation, they can contact the Storm Lake Chamber of commerce at 712-732-3780.
