ACCIDENTS

On November 9, 2001 at 5:00 p.m., an accident occurred in the Wal-Mart parking lot at 1280 Lake Avenue. A 1998 Pontiac driven by Bradley Martin, 27, 2008 West 5th Street, Storm Lake, was eastbound in the parking lot. A 1984 Jeep driven by Wyman Ross, 68, Alta, backed up from a parking spot and struck the Martin vehicle. Damage was estimated at $800 to the Martin vehicle and $50 to the Ross vehicle.

On November 12, between 9 p.m. and 10 p.m., a hit and run accident occurred in the staff parking lot of Buena Vista University, 610 West 4th Street. A 1995 Pontiac, owned by James Rube, Alta, was parked in the parking lot when it was struck by an unknown vehicle which left the scene. Damage was estimated at $500 to the Rube vehicle.

On November 10, 2001 at 12:47 p.m., an accident occurred in the 1700 block of East Lakeshore Drive. A 1977 Chevrolet driven by Eggo Bulten, 72, Early, was eastbound in the inside lane. A 1996 Volkswagen driven by Carol Bruschar, 41, Lake View, was westbound in the inside lane. The Bulten vehicle swerved left over the centerline to miss a non-contact vehicle stopped in front of it and subsequently struck the Bruscher vehicle. Damage was estimated at $100 to the Bulten vehicle and $500 to the Bruscher vehicle.

On November 11, 2001, a hit and run accident occurred in the Wal-Mart parking lot at 1280 Lake Avenue. A 1995 Honda Civic owned by Abdon Herrera, Storm Lake, was parked in the parking lot when it was struck by a vehicle, which left the scene. Damage to the Herrera vehicle was estimated at $800.

On November 11, at 12:03 p.m., an accident occurred in the intersection of Bair Street and Seneca Street. A 1986 Oldsmobile, driven by Elia Betancourt-Debravo, 39, 411 Superior Street, was westbound on Bair Street when it entered the intersection. A 1997 Ford, driven by Adan Mendoza-Falcon, 27, 1716 Tulip Lane #2, was southbound on Seneca Street when it entered the intersection. The vehicles collided. Damage was estimated at $1,000 to the Betancourt-Debravo vehicle and $2,000 to the Mendoza-Falcon vehicle.

On November 12, between 9 and 10 p.m., a hit and run accident occurred in the staff parking lot of Buena Vista University, 610 West 4th Street. A 1995 Pontiac, owned by James Rube, Alta, was parked in the parking lot when it was struck by an unknown vehicle which left the scene. Damage was estimated at $500 to the Rube vehicle.

On November 12, at 12:04 p.m., an accident occurred in the parking lot at 1525 West 5th Street. A 1995 Toyota, owned by Peggy Reed, Carroll, and a 1995 Chevy, owned by Sara Brodersen, Ayrshire, were parked in the parking lot. A 1992 Ford, driven by Dale Briggs, 56, Calumet, was backing around a corner and struck the Reed vehicle. The Briggs vehicle then pulled forward and struck the Brodersen vehicle. Damage was estimated at $600 to the Reed vehicle, $1,100 to the Brodersen vehicle, and $600 to the Briggs vehicle.

VANDALISM

On November 13, Christy Jepsen, 208 West 2nd Street, reported the driver's side front door, rear door and rear quarter panel of her vehicle scratched while it was parked at her residence. Damage was estimated at $500.

BURGLARIES

On November 6, 2001, Maria Rolon, 1409 Seneca Street, Storm Lake, reported a burglary to her home. Entry was gained by forcing a door open. Stolen were a purse, a necklace and a bracelet. Estimated value of the stolen items was $825.

THEFT

On November 10, 2001, Lawrence Lucht, 133 Seneca Street, Storm Lake, reported the theft of an iron pump from his rental property at 410 Superior Street. The pump was valued at $50.
