Updates from the Buena Vista County Sheriff's Office and Storm Lake Police Department.
On November 6, at 2:55 p.m., an accident occurred in the Storm Lake High School back parking lot. A 1998 Ford bus, owned by Regional Transit Authority, Spencer, was parked facing south in the lot. A 1989 Chevy, driven by Terry Gransow, 43, 912 East 8th Street, while backing south, struck the Regional Transit Authority Bus. Damage was estimated at $500 to the bus and $100 to the Gransow vehicle.
On November 7, at 11:46 a.m., an accident occurred in the 500 Block of Oates Street. A 1995 Nissan, driven by Chankeo Khamdaeng, 22, 708 Vestal Street, was northbound on Oates Street, slowing down for the stop sign. A 1993 Lincoln, driven by Adalberto Torres-Cortes, 23, 204 Lake Street, Lakeside, also northbound on Oates Street, struck the Khamdaeng vehicle from behind. Torres-Cortes was charged with Following Too Closely. Damage was estimated at $500 to the Khamdaeng vehicle and none to the Torres-Cortes vehicle.
On November 5, Brody Martin, Alburnett, reported the theft of his lap top computer and wireless card, a watch, and a ring from the Buena Vista University Library. Value of the stolen items was estimated at $1,570.
On November 6, Ricardo Charles, 420 Oates Street, D-2, reported the middle drivers side window of his van had been shattered while parked at his residence. Damage was estimated at $350.
