On Wednesday, October 31, Tom Lane of Alta, reported damage to the passenger front window of his vehicle while parked in the 1400 block of West 5th Street. Damage to the window is estimated at $5.
On Friday, November 2, an employee of the Storm Lake Police Department reported damage to a window at the Storm Lake Police Department Inpound, 405 West 7th street. Damage to the window is estimated at $20.
On November 4, Amanda DenBeste, Sioux City, reported the passenger side mirror of her vehicle broken while parked in the Buena Vista University parking lot, 610 West 4th Street. Damage was estimated at $50.
On Thursday, November 1, Heath Bartness of 610 West 4th Street, reported the theft of his jacket, wallet, and keys while at 147 Flindt Drive. Value of the items is estimated at $240.
On Thursday, November 1 and employee of Wal-Mart, 1280 North Lake Avenue, reported the theft of $252.52 cash from the business.
On November 1, Anna Suckow, Urbandale, reported a theft from the Buena Vista University Library, 601 West 4th Street, of her backpack which contained a lap top computer, a calculator, and a chemistry book. Value of the stolen items were estimated at $2,305.
On November 1, at 9:38 a.m. an accident occurred at 812 Grand Avenue. A 1989 Chevrolet, driven by Don Krueger, 47, of Alta, was parked. A 2000 Mercury, driven by Darlene Sheaner, 64, of 406 Ostego Street, was stopped behind the Krueger vehicle. The Krueger vehicle began to back up and struck the Sheaner vehicle. Damage to the vehicles is estimated at $900 for the Sheaner vehicle and $0 for the Krueger vehicle.
On November 1, at 2:24 p.m. a hit and run occurred at Kum and Go, 825 Flindt Drive. An unknown vehicle backed into a light pole and left the scene. Damage to the light pole is estimated at $500.
On November 2, at 10:38 a.m. an accident occurred at the intersection of Railroad Street and Lake Avenue. A 1993 Cadillac, driven by Robert Demars, 72, of 416 Lake Avenue, was southbound on Lake Avenue. A 1987 Cadillac, driven by Donald Behn, 74, of 303 West 9th Street, Was eastbound on Railroad Street. Both Vehicles collided at the intersection. Damage to the vehicles is estimated at $500 for the Demars vehicle and $100 for the Behm vehicle.
On November 2, at 11:03 a.m. an accident occurred in the Hy-Vee parking lot, 1250 North Lake Avenue. A 1993 Pontiac, driven by Lino Figueroa, 24, of 202 Russell Street, was driving through the parking lot at Hy-Vee. A 1999 Dodge, driven by Robert Siebrecht, 61, of Odebolt, was backing out of a parking space and struck the Figueroa vehicle. Damage to the vehicles is estimated at $350 for the Figueroa vehicle and $100 for the Siebrecht vehicle.
On November 2, at 3:16 p.m. an accident occurred in the 600 block of Erie Street. A 1998 Hyundai, owned by Saykeo Sackaly, of 518 Expansion Boulevard, was legally parked. A 1994 Ford, driven by Anastacia Makgabenyana, 28, of 824 West 5th Street, was backing out of a parking spot and struck the Sackaly vehicle. Damage to the vehicles is estimated at $500 for the Sackaly vehicle and $100 for the Makgabenyana vehicle.
On November 2 at 12:38 p.m. an accident occurred in the intersection of Lake Avenue and Railroad Street. A 1985 Chevy, driven by Joshua Ort, 19, 112 West 2nd Street #5, was southbound on Lake Avenue. A 1999 Jeep, driven by Khamsy Chanthadara, 60, Alta, was northbound on Lake Avenue, making a left turn. The vehicles collided. Hor Southiphong, 63, 415 East Lakeshore Drive, and Phao Southiphong, 66, 415 East Lakeshore Drive, were both taken by ambulance to the Buena Vista Regional Medical Center for treatment of injuries. Chanthadara was charged with failure to yield upon making a left turn. Damage was estimated at $2000 to the Ort vehicle and $300 to the Chanthadara vehicle.
On Oct. 24, at 2:55 a.m., an accident occurred on private property at 315 Vilas Road. A 1987 Oldsmobile, owned by Steven Sauter, Alta, was parked on the property. A 1999 Freightliner, driven by Danny Dollison, 23, Independence, was turning onto the scale when his trailer struck the Sauter vehicle. Damage was estimated at $2,000 to the Sauter vehicle and none to the Dollison vehicle.
