Hit-and-run leads to more arrests for SL man

On October 31, at approximately 1:45 p.m., the Storm Lake Police Department took a report of a hit and run accident that occurred in the west parking lot at South School.

A witness provided police with a description of the vehicle. Police searched the area but were unable to locate the vehicle.

On Thursday, Nov. 1, at approximately 8:25 a.m., police located the suspect vehicle in the 300 block of Irving Street. Police stopped the vehicle and upon contacting the driver learned the driver was under the influence of marijuana. Police further located some false documents in the vehicle.

Police arrested the driver identified as Adrian Ramirez aka Roberto Garcia, age 17, of Lakeside. Ramirez was charged with Forgery (class D felony), OWI, Driving While Suspended, No Insurance and Striking an Unattended Vehicle.

Ramirez was transported to the Youth Detention Facility in Cherokee where he was held pending a court hearing.
