Funeral services for Jack J. Goodchild, 72, of Mallard were Monday 22, at the United Methodist Church, Mallard. Interment was in the Washington Cemetery, Havelock.
Jack J. Goodchild, the son of Fredrick and Dorothy Youngren, Goodchild, was born May 9, 1929 in Havelock. He received his education in country school and the Mallard High School. After high school he joined his father and brothers in farming and raising pure bred hogs, attending many fairs and hog shows in the area. He started driving a school bus when he was a senior in high school and drove for several years. After skipping a few years he resumed driving in 1971 and drove continuously through the 2000-2001 year. He loved his bus kids. In 1957 he was united in marriage with Lovice Weinzel in Mallard where the couple lived during their married lives.
Survivors include his wife Lovice, Mallard; his children: J.D. and his wife Wendy Goodchild of Mallard, Connie (Mrs. Jeff) Chinn of Sioux City, Vera (Mrs. Max) Marckmann of Fontenelle, Coleen (Mrs. Eric Petersen) of Sioux City, and Vickie (Mrs. Tony) Drake of Tecumseh, Mont.; and ten grandchildren. Also brothers Ghervus of Mallard, Lonnie of Aloha, Ore.; and sisters Janice Cast of West Bend, Joy Lettow, of Alden, and Judy Blome, of Lincoln, Neb.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother Freddie, a sister Gay Belk, and a daughter Barbara. He was a member of the United Methodist Church, mallard, Abu Becker Shrine and the Masonic Lodge.
