The Albert City-Truesdale vocal music department proudly announces the selection of four students to the sixteenth annual 2001 Opus Honor Festival.

They are Matt Buchholz, son of Stanley and Kathy Buchholz, Rachel Peterson, Daughter of Sid and Janet Peterson and Brady and Brittny Rebhuhn, daughters of Doug and Marcia Rebhuhn.

The students were chosen by taped auditions. Approximately 3200 student auditioned for the 720 positions in the four Opus honor choirs. Matt, Rachel, Brady and Brittny will all be members of the 5th and 6th Grade Elementary Honor Choir. Only 180 5th and 6th grade students in the state were selected to be in the elementary choir. The students were evaluated in four areas, tone quality, rhythm, intonation and musicianship.

The 2001 Opus Honor Choirs will perform at 4 p.m., November 15th in C.Y. Stephens Auditorium in the Iowa State Center in Ames. The Opus Honor Choir Festival is under the auspices of the Iowa Choral Directors Association. Guest directors of the choirs include Patricia Trump, 5th and 6th grade Elementary Honor Choir, Sandra Chapman, 7th and 8th grade Boys Honor Choir, Mary Kay Knapp, 7th and 8th grade Girls Honor Choir, and Perry Bekkerus, 9th grade Mixed Honor Choir. Accompanying the students to Ames will be the Albert City-Truesdale vocal music director, Beverly Evans.

We encourage all family and friends to attend the concert at C.Y. Stephens and give your support and congratulations to these talented young musicians. Beginning November 8, tickets can be purchased through the Iowa State ticket office and through Ticketmaster outlets.
