Chamber to open Santa's Workshop/shopper haven

Thursday, October 18, 2001

Santa's Workshop will be a place for volunteers to gather to work on renovating animation and displays for the Santa's Castle exhibit nearby. Chamber officials hope that as people see the work through the big plate glass windows, they will be become interested in helping, and perhaps spark renewed interest in the Castle and the rest of the city's holiday spirit.

Closer to Christmas, the shoppers haven will open, with hots, hot chocolate and fresh cookies for people to take a break during their march through the city's downtown shopping village.

The generosity of the local Masonic Lodge made the project possible, and an oven has been donated for the baking, chamber officials said. Refreshments will be free, with donations appreciated.

The chamber is hoping to find an local organization that will offer package wrapping in the same location. Volunteers to serve as hosts are also needed, and interested persons may call 732-3780 for more information.
